Inspection process

The EEMUA 159 inspection process encompasses several key components, including:

Visual Examination: A meticulous inspection of both the exterior and interior surfaces of the tank to detect any indications of damage, corrosion, or degradation.

Non-Destructive Testing (NDT): Use of advanced NDT methodologies like ultrasonic testing, radiographic testing, magnetic particle testing, and dye penetrant testing to evaluate the structural soundness of the tank components without causing harm.

Thickness Assessment: Measurement of the steel plates’ thickness within the tank to identify any thinning or corrosion that may compromise its structural integrity.

Weld Evaluation: Scrutiny of welds for potential defects or discontinuities that could impact the tank’s overall stability.

Foundation and Support Inspection: Examination of the tank’s foundations and supports to ensure they maintain stability and prevent potential failures.

Fit-for-Purpose Analysis: A comprehensive assessment of the tank’s suitability for its intended function, accounting for various factors such as operational conditions, environmental influences, and regulatory obligations.

The aim of EEMUA tank inspection is to uncover any potential issues, evaluate the tank’s condition, and offer recommendations for maintenance, repair, or replacement, giving you assurance that your tanks are operating safely and in compliance with regulatory standards. The report will also give you an estimated lifespan for your tank.

Why choose NDT Group?

With over 10 years of experience, we know what you need when it comes to tank inspections.

Let us take the pressure off. We can ensure a smooth process from beginning to end.

Comprehensive package

Our EEMUA tank inspections cover all areas of assessment, guaranteeing adherence to the stringent standards outlined by EEMUA. This comprehensive approach saves you time, money and energy as there is no need to look anywhere else.

Our service offers time and cost savings. From day one, we will ensure that things move as quickly as possible meaning that your tank will be back in operation as soon as possible. We will organise cleaning, scaffolding (if required) and our team of NDT technicians will carry out the required tests. Our EEMUA 159 tank inspector is able to assess the data and test results and produce a Fit for Purpose report to ensure a quick turnaround.

Regulatory adherence

Our industry experience means we know the standards that are required and we are well-versed in EEMUA 159 tank inspections. If any further work is required, such as repairs, we will discuss your options with you to ensure that you know how best to proceed.

Prompt reporting

One of the key benefits of our new EEMUA tank inspection service is the ability to provide comprehensive Fit for Purpose reports promptly. These reports are invaluable assets that provide essential insights into the condition of your tanks, highlighting any areas of concern and recommending appropriate remedial actions. With our in-house EEMUA 159 tank inspector overseeing the inspection process, we can speed up the generation of these reports without compromising on accuracy or thoroughness.

What do we offer?

We offer a complete, cost-effective service for your tank inspections.

Our Asset Integrity Manager will meet with you to discuss the process and schedule the work. We will talk about the history of the tanks, including any design drawings, previous thickness measurements and any previous inspection reports.

We understand how costly it can be to have a tank out of operation. Once a tank is booked in and due to come out of operation, our cleaners will work quickly and thoroughly to ensure that the tank is ready for the next stage of inspection.

Our NDT technicians will then come in to carry out various tests. They will work with our EEMUA tank inspector to discuss results as they progress, meaning the whole process works much more quickly with any issues flagged in real-time.

Our EEMUA 159 tank inspector will assess the results and data, providing a Fit for Purpose report giving you an estimated lifespan for your tank. He will discuss next steps with you, including any maintenance or repairs, and will work with you to put together a schedule of inspection for the future.
